Instructors and students

Knowledgeable instructors will teach future EMTs who already have medical experience.

ERThe initial courses will be taught collaboratively by volunteers from the United States who are experienced emergency medical instructors and highly qualified Nepali medical instructors who have taught first aid and first responder courses. The American volunteers will train the Nepalis to teach all aspects of the course, and to train future instructors. This will eventually produce a self-sustaining team of excellent Nepali instructors that is not dependent on external support. Because the EMTs will not be able to learn from more experienced ambulance workers, it is critical that the course has high-quality instruction and implements diverse teaching methods.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer instructor and teaching the first training course in Nepal for ambulance staff, please see the page for volunteers.

Students

Most of the students will already have received training in one of Nepal’s paramedic courses. Although most of these courses are three years long, none provide any information about providing pre-hospital care or treating patients in an ambulance. EMS logo

In particular, former army and police paramedics will be selected for the EMT course, because they have experience with rapid patient care in difficult environments, as well as long-term treatment. After the program is established, a longer course may be created for people without prior medical training.

If you want to become one of Nepal’s trained ambulance professionals, please email info@ambulancecenter.org.np or contact the Ambulance Center by telephone.
