Mission and objectives
Mission of the National Ambulance Center:
To establish an emergency medical system that provides rapid transport to hospitals and high-quality medical care to sick and injured people throughout the Kathmandu Valley, regardless of their ability to pay.
Objectives:
- The National Ambulance Center will be able to treat and transport every person in the Kathmandu Valley needing emergency medical care.
- Every ambulance participating in the National Ambulance Center will be staffed by two trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and will have the necessary equipment for the EMTs to provide high-quality treatment.
- A training course will teach EMTs to provide a high standard of medical care in the context of the limitations, resources, and needs of the Kathmandu Valley.
- A dispatch office, in combination with a free three-digit telephone number, will coordinate ambulances’ responses to medical emergencies.
