About the Ambulance Center

The National Ambulance Center will be an efficient, sustainable, coordinated emergency medical system that provides the people of the Kathmandu Valley with excellent medical treatment and rapid transport to hospitals, regardless of their ability to pay.

ambulanceA free three-digit number will be available for all medical emergencies, and a 24-hour dispatch office will receive the calls to this telephone number.

Ambulances will be stationed around the Kathmandu Valley, so they can respond quickly.

Ambulances will be operated by two Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who have graduated from a rigorous training course. While one EMT is driving, the other can monitor the patient and give continual care.

All ambulances that participate in the program will carry a required selection of medical equipment which the ambulance staff will be trained to use.
